Ghanaian actor Akrobeto survives a horrific accident and shares chilling details of being dragged by a truck. |
Veteran Ghanaian actor and television personality Akwasi Boadi, affectionately known as Akrobeto, is counting his blessings after surviving what he described as a “fatal” car crash on the Accra-Kumasi Highway on Friday, May 23, 2025.
In a video released just hours after the terrifying incident, the Real News host recounted how the accident occurred near Konongo in the Ashanti Region while en route to Kumasi.
According to Akrobeto, a heavy-duty articulator truck smashed into his Toyota SUV, dragging his vehicle approximately 30 meters before halting. The impact of the crash drew a large crowd within minutes, completely blocking the busy highway.
“The car rammed into mine and dragged me for about 30 meters before the articulator came to a halt for me to also come to a stop,” he explained in the video.
Miraculously, neither Akrobeto nor the passenger he was giving a lift to suffered any injuries. They were quickly transported to Kumasi Hospital, where medical professionals were shocked by the actor’s survival.
“After looking at my car and myself, the doctor told me, ‘Your God is a big God.’ Nothing bad happened to me,” Akrobeto shared emotionally.
He went on to express deep gratitude to Ghanaians, fans, and media colleagues who have shown overwhelming concern and support since the news broke.
Eyewitnesses report that the crash was triggered by a tricycle (Aboboyaa) suddenly veering into the lane, forcing the heavy-duty truck to swerve and collide with Akrobeto’s vehicle. While the car was severely damaged, no casualties were recorded.
Despite his eagerness to return to hosting his satirical news program The Real News on UTV, Akrobeto revealed that Despite Media has advised him to rest this week.
“This accident has given me the opportunity to appreciate how people love me. I am grateful to the entire Ghana,” he concluded.
