Dr. Bawumia Critizes Mahama's UN Adress; Kevin Taylor Fires Back, Exposes 'Hidden Agenda'

The political drama between Ghana’s top political figures continues to unfold on the global stage. Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has launched a scathing critique of former President John Dramani Mahama’s recent address at the United Nations, questioning both the relevance and sincerity of Mahama’s message to the international community.

According to Dr. Bawumia, Mahama’s UN speech painted a gloomy picture of Ghana, downplaying the progress the country has made under the current administration. He argued that such a platform should be used to project hope and development, not to “sell negativity” about one’s own nation.

But the Vice President’s remarks have not gone unchallenged. U.S.-based Ghanaian journalist and social commentator Kevin Taylor quickly waded into the debate, blasting Dr. Bawumia for what he described as a “calculated political stunt” ahead of the 2024 elections.

In a fiery reaction, Kevin Taylor accused the Vice President of hypocrisy, insisting that Dr. Bawumia himself has been the architect of Ghana’s current economic struggles. “You cannot preside over one of the worst economic downturns in our history and then turn around to question someone’s credibility at the UN,” Taylor fumed in his broadcast.

He went further to “expose” what he calls Bawumia’s agenda portraying himself as a defender of Ghana’s image abroad while allegedly ignoring the pressing challenges ordinary citizens face daily at home.

The clash has set social media buzzing, with Ghanaians sharply divided. Supporters of Dr. Bawumia argue that he was right to call out Mahama for using an international stage for “partisan politics,” while Mahama loyalists say the Vice President is only rattled because the former president’s message resonated globally.
