This young girl had to cut her hair before she could enroll into Yaa Asantewaa girls school as it’s part of the admission requirements.
Is it time, we allow girls keep their natural hair as it has no effects on academic performance?
I mean we are encouraging people to learn hand skills, so on weekends, they could braid their own hair without leaving the School and it can generate some income for those students who become ‘hairdressers’ in there, a skill they can learn while waiting for the WASSCE results.
Should we allow our girls to decide whether to cut or keep their hair as they want given that the year is 2025 and not 1960.
