New date set for Daddy Lumba’s final funeral rites

 

Manhyia Palace has announced a new date for the final funeral rites of veteran musician Daddy Lumba. 

Originally set for December 6, 2025, the ceremony has now been rescheduled to December 13, 2025. 

The change was confirmed following a meeting at the Otumfuo Saamanhene Palace on November 10, 2025, where a new funeral committee, led by Dadiesoabahene, was constituted to manage the arrangements.

During the discussions, Daddy Lumba’s sister, Ernestina Akosua Brempomaa, requested a postmortem examination, raising concerns of potential foul play in her brother’s death. 

She urged that the funeral be postponed until the results clarified the cause of death.

The Chiefs, however, decided that the postmortem matters would fall under police jurisdiction and reaffirmed December 13 as the official date for the funeral. 

They also called on the family to maintain unity and ensure a dignified farewell for the legendary musician.
