Stan Dogbe taunts NPP members, predicting prolonged opposition after their loss in the 024 election |
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, April 27, 2025, Dogbe stated that the NPP has yet to recover from what he described as a "humiliating" loss to President John Dramani Mahama.
"The NPP is still yet to come to terms with the humiliating defeat inflicted on them by Ghana's most favourite leader, John Dramani Mahama, in December 2024," he wrote.
Dogbe added that he often encounters NPP members expressing sorrow over the election results, a situation he finds amusing.
The Deputy Chief of Staff further advised NPP members to brace themselves for prolonged years in opposition, attributing it to the ongoing "good works" of the Mahama-led National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.
"More years of opposition for you, thanks to the good works of the Mahama and NDC administration already," he asserted.
His remarks come in the wake of intense internal discussions within the NPP regarding the reasons behind their defeat.
Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP's 2024 presidential candidate and former Vice President, recently admitted during the party’s "Thank You Tour" that certain unpopular policies under the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo administration contributed to their electoral downfall.

Dr Bawumia cited major issues such as:
👉 The perceived arrogance of power,
👉 High inflation rates,
👉 The controversial Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP),
👉 The Electronic Transaction Levy (E-Levy),
👉 And the incomplete $58 million National Cathedral project.
According to Bawumia, these factors alienated voters and eroded public trust in the party.
However, his remarks have stirred controversy within NPP ranks. Some members have accused him of attempting to distance himself from the administration's failures for political convenience.
Former Government Spokesperson on Governance and Security, Dr Palgrave Boakye-Danquah, criticised Bawumia, pointing out that he remained silent during the implementation of these controversial policies, only to disavow them later.
Boakye-Danquah said Bawumia's role as head of the Economic Management Team made it impossible for him to dissociate from the policies he now blames for the defeat.
As internal bickering continues, Dogbe’s latest comments reflect growing confidence within the NDC and the Mahama administration, who believe their agenda is setting the stage for prolonged dominance in Ghanaian politics.
