The NDC returns to Peace FM’s ‘Kokrokoo’ after five years, signaling renewed media relations and political engagement. |
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially ended its five-year-long boycott of Peace FM’s flagship morning programme, Kokrokoo.
Speaking in an exclusive interview on the show on June 20, 2025, NDC National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah confirmed the party’s decision to return after productive engagements with the station's management.
“Before the elections, we used to meet regularly. Everyone knows the NDC had issues with the Kokrokoo show. After several discussions between the NDC leadership and Peace FM, we’ve finally resolved the matter,” Asiedu Nketiah stated.
He noted that both sides have reached a mutual understanding, and the party is ready to resume participation under more agreeable terms.
“We’ve agreed to return the gun to where it used to be. Now, you know what we expect, and we also know what you want. We’ll send our representatives to the show—but please, don’t choose them for us. If you have concerns about any of them, inform us directly.”
The NDC Chairman further appealed to the station's producers to ensure balanced discussions and open communication moving forward.
“You have your own rules, and we understand that. But if anything arises, just communicate with us so the relationship can thrive.”
🔙 Background: The Boycott Timeline
The NDC had announced a boycott of the Kokrokoo morning show on May 6, 2020, led by National Communications Officer Sammy Gyamfi. The party cited persistent unfair treatment and biased panel moderation as reasons for the withdrawal.
Over the years, the absence of the NDC’s voice on one of Ghana’s most influential morning shows has drawn mixed reactions from political observers and media analysts.
Their return ahead of the 2025 general elections is seen by many as a strategic political move to re-engage with the show’s vast listener base.
