In a deeply disturbing incident that has left many in shock, a 45-year-old farmer, Kwabena Asiedu, has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his teenage daughter, Susana Asiedu, over a pregnancy-related dispute.
The violent episode took place in Sefwi Tanoso Praso, a quiet community in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality of Ghana’s Western North Region. The horrifying event has since gone viral on social media, prompting national conversations about parenting, gender-based violence, and teenage pregnancy.
According to a report by adomonline.com, the teenage victim—identified as 18-year-old Susana Asiedu, affectionately known as Maabena—is a hairdressing apprentice. She was reportedly visiting a friend in the neighborhood when her father confronted her about a rumour that she was five months pregnant.
Susana allegedly admitted to the pregnancy, which sparked a heated argument. Eyewitness accounts say the father, enraged by the confirmation, pulled a kitchen knife and began chasing her into her friend’s room. What followed was a terrifying attack in which he stabbed her multiple times.
Following the attack, Susana reportedly lost consciousness due to the severity of her injuries. A local unit committee member quickly intervened and rushed her to the Bibiani Government Hospital, where she is currently undergoing treatment.
Police later confirmed that Kwabena Asiedu fled the scene after the stabbing. However, swift action by authorities led to his arrest, and he is now in custody as investigations continue.
The incident has sparked widespread public outrage, with many Ghanaians calling for strict legal action against the suspect. Gender and child protection advocates have also weighed in, condemning the act as a clear example of domestic violence and child abuse.
As police delve deeper into the case, many are waiting to see whether attempted murder or aggravated assault charges will be filed against the father.
