A striking message from Pastor Chris on how wisdom, not just intelligence, shapes destiny. |
In a captivating message delivered to his congregation, renowned Nigerian pastor and founder of Christ Embassy, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, shared deep spiritual insights on life, success, and divine destiny. Referencing Ecclesiastes 9:11, he declared:
“The race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong… nor yet riches to men of understanding.”
This biblical verse, Pastor Chris explained, reveals a spiritual truth: success in life is not solely based on intelligence or physical ability. He illustrated this with a striking example—a professional 100-meter sprinter who was just meters from the finish line when a sudden muscle pull stopped him short.
“He couldn’t get the gold, silver, or bronze. The race is not always to the swift. Hallelujah!” he exclaimed.
Pastor Chris went further, pointing out the irony of our world today. He noted that some of the most educated individuals—professors, bankers, engineers—often struggle financially, while others with less formal education succeed and even employ those experts.
“Some funny guy that don’t know nothing about books makes the money and employs them to go teach in his school,” he said, with a touch of humor.
This, he says, reinforces the message of Ecclesiastes: intelligence alone doesn’t guarantee wealth or success.
Despite his observations, Pastor Chris made it clear that education still holds immense value.
“Just in case you heard me and you haven’t gone to school—go to school! It’s important. It will help you,” he stressed.
Pastor Chris explained that it’s thanks to his education that he’s able to understand and teach the scriptures effectively. He also mentioned a humorous moment when someone misread a Bible verse, showing how important it is to comprehend language properly.
“A guy said, ‘Your lions got a bout.’ I said, no, the book says, ‘the lions.’ There’s a big difference between ‘your lions’ and ‘the lions.’”
Pastor Chris’s sermon is a powerful reminder that while education, strength, and intelligence are valuable, they don’t determine our destinies. Grace, purpose, and divine timing ultimately shape our paths.
