President John Dramani Mahama has declared his determination to set a governance legacy so strong that no future administration will be able to overturn the progress his government is making.

Speaking at a high-level engagement with the Christian clergy on Friday, May 23, 2025, the president reiterated his commitment to transforming Ghana’s economy, restoring public confidence, and establishing robust systems that will outlast his tenure.

“By the time we finish these four years, we’ll set a standard in government that whichever party or whichever people come into governance cannot reverse the gains we have made,” he said.

President Mahama stressed that his government’s mission is rooted in restoring the economy and uplifting Ghanaians, especially as the country continues to grapple with economic challenges.

He assured religious leaders that under his watch, bold reforms and responsible governance would lead to tangible improvements in the lives of ordinary citizens.

“With effective leadership, we can turn this economy around and create a better life for our people… That is what I’m committed to,” the president said.

In an appeal to spiritual and community leaders, President Mahama emphasized the importance of inclusive governance. He pledged to continue engaging the clergy and other national stakeholders in dialogue aimed at improving leadership and policy execution.

“We’ll continue to listen to the nuggets of wisdom that you give us because it makes us better, it makes us stronger,” Mahama stated.

The president further highlighted that constructive criticism and spiritual guidance would serve as key tools in ensuring his administration remains aligned with the nation’s interests.

President Mahama made it clear that his administration’s focus is not just on short-term fixes, but on laying down frameworks and policies that will resist political interference and stand the test of time.

By aligning governance with long-term development goals, Mahama believes his leadership will cement a legacy of resilience, accountability, and national unity.
