Media personality Afia Schwarzenegger is facing a GH¢10 million defamation lawsuit filed by Mr. Gyamfi, who claims that she deliberately published false and harmful statements intended to damage his reputation both personally and professionally.

Filed at the High Court in Accra on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, the lawsuit—led by lawyer Saani Mahmoud Abdul-Rasheed of Sustineri Attorneys PRUC—centres on multiple accusations made by Afia Schwarzenegger via social media and other public platforms.

Among the most damning allegations are claims that Mr. Gyamfi purchased property in the United States for his wife and her alleged sister named Vida. The plaintiff firmly denies these assertions, stating:

“I have never bought property abroad for my wife or any relative, and my wife does not even have a sister named Vida.”

Mr. Gyamfi also categorically rejected additional allegations that he was romantically involved with female students at the University of Ghana or had bought vehicles for girlfriends—labeling the entire narrative as “false, malicious, and reckless.”

According to the lawsuit, Afia Schwarzenegger either knew her statements were untrue or acted with gross disregard for the truth, leading to widespread reputational damage. Mr. Gyamfi claims he has been subjected to harsh inquiries from political figures, colleagues, friends, and family members globally.

० A perpetual injunction preventing Afia Schwarzenegger from repeating the defamatory claims

० A public retraction and unqualified apology, published in three consecutive editions of the Daily Graphic and posted on TikTok and other relevant social media platforms

० Legal costs, including attorney’s fees

० Any further relief the court deems just and equitable

This case adds to the growing list of public figures taking legal action against online defamation, as Ghana grapples with the effects of misinformation and character assassination in the digital age.
