The Ministry of the Interior has updated its official website , revealing the date of the next public holiday in Ghana.

According to the information posted, there will be no public holiday in October 2025 and November 2025. The next official public holiday will fall on Friday, 5th December 2025.

This upcoming holiday will be in celebration of Farmers’ Day. Farmers’ Day is an important occasion in Ghana that honours the hard work and dedication of farmers and fishers who play a vital role in feeding the nation and supporting its economy.

Although the day is marked every year on the first Friday of December, this year’s celebration will officially be observed as a public holiday on Friday, 5th December 2025.

Farmers’ Day has been part of Ghana’s calendar since 1985 when it was first introduced to recognise the contributions of farmers. On this day, the government celebrates the achievements of farmers and encourages more investment in agriculture. Over the years,

Farmers’ Day has become not only a time to appreciate farmers but also an opportunity to highlight the importance of agriculture in national development.

By declaring Friday, 5th December 2025, as a public holiday, the government allows Ghanaians across the country to take part in the celebrations. This gives the nation a chance to honour the efforts of farmers who work throughout the year to ensure food security and economic stability.

Other national holidays remain on the calendar as planned, but the Ministry has clarified that after the September holiday for Founder's Day, there will be no official public holidays until December.

The Ministry encouraged Ghanaians to look forward to Farmers’ Day and use the occasion to show respect and appreciation for the farmers and fishers who continue to sustain the country.

This announcement gives workers and students time to plan ahead for the holiday and also serves as a reminder of the importance of agriculture in Ghana’s growth and prosperity.
