How Can You Abuse The President And His Picture This Much? - Amoakohene Slams Joy News

Dr Frank Amoakohene, the Ashanti Regional Minister, has slammed Joy News over what he described as an abuse of a picture of President John Dramani Mahama.

Joy News, a subsidiary of the Multimedia Group, has released a documentary about illegal mining activities, commonly known as galamsey. The documentary is aimed at creating awareness of the devastating effects of the galamsey menace and to prompt the government to take decisive action against it.

The documentary, dubbed Dear Mahama, has generated significant discussion, with many Ghanaians calling on the President to deal with illegal mining activities as he promised in opposition.

Reacting to the documentary, Dr Frank Amoakohene said Joy News appears to be overdoing things with the advocacy to end galamsey.

In a Facebook post, the Ashanti Regional Minister noted that the media house should have given the President Mahama-led administration some breathing space after his recent meeting with Civil Society Organisations.

Expressing his disappointment, the outspoken Regional Minister pointed out that Joy News should appreciate the dedication of President Mahama in fighting galamsey.

He further slammed the media house for how they "abused" the picture of the President they used for the documentary.

"This one dier you are overdoing things. How can you abuse the president and his picture so much? Upon the meeting you had with him are you saying you don’t appreciate his dedication in this regard?" His Facebook post reads.

Galamsey has been one of the biggest challenges of the National Democratic Congress government. It remains to be seen if Mahama can win the fight.
