The government of Ghana has revealed the next public holiday for all Ghanaians in both November and December 2025.
According to an updated version of the national holiday timetable on the Ministry of the Interior's website, the next public holiday for Ghanaians will be observed on Friday, 5th December 2025, to mark National Farmers’ Day.
This day is set aside every year to celebrate the hard work and dedication of farmers and fishermen who play a major role in feeding the nation and supporting Ghana’s economy. The celebration also highlights the government’s commitment to promoting agriculture and encouraging more Ghanaians to venture into farming.
After the Farmers’ Day holiday in December, Ghanaians will again enjoy two more national holidays to end the year. The first will be Christmas Day, which falls on Thursday, 25th December 2025, followed by Boxing Day on Friday, 26th December 2025.
These holidays are part of the annual festive celebrations and give families, friends, and loved ones time to come together, relax, and reflect on the year’s achievements.
The Ministry of the Interior reminded the public that these holidays are statutory and apply nationwide. All institutions, including public offices, schools, and businesses, are expected to observe them accordingly. However, essential service providers such as hospitals, security agencies, and emergency departments will continue to operate to ensure public safety and service delivery.
The government has also encouraged citizens to celebrate these holidays peacefully and responsibly. As the year draws to a close, many Ghanaians are already preparing for the festivities, especially the Christmas season, which is one of the most celebrated periods in the country.
