Hon. Kennedy Agyapong's Condition Uncertain After Deadly Convoy Accident

Reports of a major road accident involving the convoy of prominent businessman and ex-MP Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong have shocked Ghana’s political and commercial sectors.

Although official details about Agyapong’s condition remain unclear, rumors of fatalities have fueled public worry. The incident occurred on the notoriously hazardous Accra-Winneba highway, leaving relatives, colleagues, and the general public anxious as information slowly emerges.

According to witnesses and posts circulating on social media, several vehicles in the convoy were caught up in the collision, and drivers or security personnel may have been injured. Sources suggest the convoy was heading to a private function when the accident occurred, possibly due to speeding or poor road conditions, around 1:30 AM. An insider remarked, “It’s a serious accident; we are all praying for Hon. Agyapong and his team,” noting that the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) is conducting a detailed investigation.

Agyapong, 65, is a former MP for Assin Central, a candidate for the 2024 NPP presidential primaries, and CEO of Kenpong Group. He is well-known for his media influence, philanthropy, and outspoken political opinions. His bond with the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba, who passed earlier this year, adds to the emotional weight of the news. This accident follows a previous incident in May 2025, when his convoy was involved in a fatal hit-and-run in Assin Manso, in which he participated in apprehending the driver.
