New details have surfaced regarding embattled former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau, Kwabena Adu-Boahene, who is currently facing allegations of embezzling state funds. A trending video on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) has sparked controversy, showing Adu-Boahene preaching about success and seizing opportunities at his church, where he serves as a deacon.

In the now-viral video, the former government official is seen addressing pastors, emphasizing the importance of taking advantage of opportunities to achieve success.

"With what I have learned in my young life, I believe that opportunities must be seized. The difference between successful people and those who are not is how they utilize opportunities to their advantage," he stated.

The emergence of this video has drawn public attention, especially as it coincides with Attorney General Dominic Ayine’s accusations against Adu-Boahene, linking him to massive corruption and illegal acquisition of high-end properties, including multiple houses in Accra’s Mayfair Estates.

Following his arrest, Kwabena Adu-Boahene and his wife have been granted bail set at GHS 260 million with two sureties. However, the Attorney General has hinted at the possibility of a plea bargaining arrangement, allowing Adu-Boahene to negotiate a lesser sentence in exchange for cooperation.

"I am open-minded when it comes to these issues. If they want to do plea bargaining, they should make an offer through their lawyers immediately after I file the charges," said Attorney General Dominic Ayine.

If found guilty, Adu-Boahene could face up to 25 years in prison for illegally amassing wealth through corrupt practices.

The revelation of Adu-Boahene’s dual persona—one as a preacher of morality and another as an alleged corrupt official—has fueled public outrage. Many Ghanaians have taken to social media to express their disappointment, with some calling for swift justice.

Authorities continue to investigate his financial dealings, and more updates are expected as the legal proceedings unfold.
