Rev Obofour demands calm after followers of Adom Kyei-Duah mock him online over funeral incident |
A recent public encounter between Rev. Obofour and Stephen Adom Kyei-Duah has reignited long-standing tensions between the two popular Ghanaian religious leaders — this time spilling into a public warning.
Rev. Obofour, founder of the Anointed Palace Chapel, has written a strongly-worded letter to the leader of the Philadelphia Movement, expressing his displeasure over mocking behavior by Adom Kyei-Duah’s followers.
The letter comes shortly after the two spiritual leaders crossed paths at the funeral of IGP Yohonu's late mother — an encounter that triggered a wave of social media trolling and ridicule aimed at Obofour from Philadelphia followers.
In the letter titled “I am sending you this letter at peace”, Obofour made it clear that he is not seeking conflict but expects Adom Kyei-Duah to take swift action to bring his followers under control.

“I am not fighting with Adom Kyei-Duah. Media is powerful. He must have heard that his people are soiling my reputation,” Rev. Obofour stated.
Obofour emphasized that he has never used his pulpit to attack Adom Kyei-Duah or his doctrines, even though their teachings are widely divergent, especially on controversial topics like "Yesu Mogya" (Jesus' Blood) — a doctrine heavily promoted by the Philadelphia Movement.
Despite his claims of neutrality, several viral videos have resurfaced showing Rev. Obofour criticizing Adom Kyei-Duah’s teachings and followers. These clips are believed to have fueled the renewed backlash.
Obofour, who is currently mourning the passing of his mother, appealed for restraint and mutual respect between both religious communities. He has issued a 42-hour ultimatum for Kyei-Duah to call his followers to order.
This is not the first time these two charismatic leaders have clashed — their theological differences and leadership styles have made them lightning rods in Ghana’s ever-growing Christian media space.

While some see this as a call for peace, others speculate it may only deepen the rift between the rival camps if not handled with diplomacy.
As Ghana’s religious landscape continues to evolve in both influence and visibility, the actions of these high-profile leaders matter — not just for their congregations, but for the nation’s social harmony.
Will this letter bring peace or further ignite the fire? Only time will tell.
