Mahama Touts Economic Gains, Thanks Ghanaians
President John Dramani Mahama has attributed Ghana’s early signs of economic recovery to strategic reforms and fiscal discipline introduced under his administration. Speaking during his Thank You Tour in the Upper West Region, Mahama assured citizens that the country is on a promising path toward growth and stability.
According to a report by InsightGhana.com.gh, Mahama pointed to the stabilization of the Ghana cedi and a gradual decline in the cost of living as visible signs of progress.
‘Big Push Programme’ Launched to Transform Infrastructure
Mahama also unveiled his flagship ‘Big Push Programme’, aimed at improving infrastructure across Ghana, with a special focus on road development.
Key initiatives include:
👉 Dualisation of major highways: Accra–Aflao, Accra–Kumasi, and Accra–Takoradi.
👉 Construction and rehabilitation of key bridges: Yape, Dambai, Daboya, Echia-Mangfrum, and Bupe.
👉 A new Kumasi–Africa Expressway to cut travel time between Kumasi and Accra to just 2.5 hours.

“This is a game-changer in our national transport network,” Mahama declared to an enthusiastic crowd.
Upper West Gets Priority Attention
Mahama highlighted the Upper West Region as a key beneficiary under the Big Push Programme. He acknowledged the poor road conditions in the area, which he experienced firsthand during the campaign.
“Your vote has a purpose, and that purpose is to bring development to the region,” Mahama said. “We are prioritising the Watumu-Bolgatanga Trunk Road because no region should be left behind.”
NDC's Vision: Inclusive and Transformational Development
Mahama concluded with a strong commitment to inclusive national development, assuring Ghanaians that the NDC's 2024 manifesto reflects the party’s dedication to equitable growth.
“We are determined to bring transformational change to every corner of Ghana, especially regions like the Upper West that have long been underdeveloped despite their immense potential,” he emphasized.
With the Big Push Programme set to roll out nationwide, Mahama's message is clear: development, reform, and unity are central to his administration’s agenda.
