Accra, Ghana – Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale has issued a formal apology to his former manager, Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson, popularly known as Bullgod, for defamatory allegations he made in 2022, including an unsubstantiated claim that Bullgod was connected to the murder of artiste manager Fennec Okyere in 2014.
In a public letter shared across his social media platforms, Shatta Wale retracted his previous statements and expressed regret for the harm caused.
“I wish to retract each of the statements... as I did not mean to say that Mr. Hanson had a hand in the murder of Fennec Okyere,” the Freedom hitmaker wrote.
“I also wish to apologise to Mr. Hanson and all the persons whom my publications... have caused pain, agony, anguish, shame, ridicule, or hatred.”
The apology references posts made on November 2, 2022, where Shatta Wale alleged on social media that Bullgod had confessed to him about involvement in Okyere's death — a high-profile unsolved case that shocked Ghana’s music industry.
The tension between Shatta Wale and Bullgod began after their professional relationship ended acrimoniously. In the months that followed, the musician criticised Bullgod and other key industry players, branding them as obstacles to progress in the Ghanaian music scene.
Shatta Wale accused Bullgod of being an “errand boy,” and even went as far as alleging that he engaged in adultery and immoral conduct.

But things took a serious turn in 2022 when Shatta Wale posted cryptic messages online, suggesting Bullgod was involved in the murder of Fennec Okyere. He claimed he was ready to testify in court if necessary.
Following the allegations, Bullgod filed a defamation lawsuit, seeking damages for what he called malicious and false statements. The Ghana Police Service also reopened its investigation into the Okyere case. However, no charges were filed, and Bullgod, who had been previously arrested in 2014, remained cleared due to lack of evidence.
Despite multiple public spats through 2023 and 2024, including heated social media exchanges, Shatta Wale's new apology marks a possible turning point in the long-standing feud.
While some fans have welcomed the apology as a mature step toward reconciliation, others question the timing and sincerity, particularly given the seriousness of the murder accusation.
Bullgod has yet to issue a public response.
