Bishop Obinim ridicules Kennedy Agyapong’s silence, claiming he’s gone soft in his bid to become president. |
In a fiery sermon delivered to his congregation on Sunday, June 15, 2025, Bishop Daniel Obinim, founder of the International God’s Way Church, has made bold assertions about Kennedy Agyapong’s presidential ambition, suggesting it was not born out of personal conviction but rather influenced by religious leaders.
“Quote me anywhere — Kennedy Agyapong never had the idea of becoming president of this country. It was the pastors that said it to him, and he realized he wanted to become president,” Obinim stated to his congregation.
The bishop’s remarks come amid growing public curiosity over the former Assin Central MP's subdued public persona, which many have attributed to his long-term political aspirations.
“Because he wants to be president, he is quiet now. The tiger has become quiet because he wants to be president,” he added, implying that Agyapong's previously aggressive public posture has shifted strategically.
Referencing past media battles, especially those involving himself and Afia Schwarzenegger, Obinim believes Agyapong would have avoided such controversies if he had considered a political future earlier.
“Do you know that if he knew he wanted to be president, all these fights with me and Afia Schwarzenegger wouldn't have happened?” Obinim rhetorically asked.
The relationship between Agyapong and Ghana's clergy has long been tense, with the politician frequently criticizing so-called “fake pastors,” including Obinim. The tables now appear to have turned, with Obinim claiming the clergy planted the idea of leadership in Agyapong’s mind.
While Kennedy Agyapong has yet to officially respond to the claims, the remarks are likely to fuel further debate about his motivations, image strategy, and future political moves within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Ghana’s broader political landscape.
