Despite Mahama being called the “most prepared,” critics vow to recover alleged NDC funds and demand full accountability. |
The Acting CEO of the Ghana Shippers Authority, Professor Ransford Gyampo, has issued a strong call to President John Dramani Mahama and the anti-corruption task force ORAL (Operation Recover All Loot) to remain undistracted by growing public and political praise.
Speaking during a live panel discussion on TV3 on June 21, 2025, Gyampo expressed concern that individuals who once criticized Mahama are now showering him with accolades—praise that, according to Gyampo, could cloud judgment if not kept in check.
“All of a sudden, President Mahama is being showered with accolades from people who had once severely criticised him... But I want to say that, look, whether Mahama's accolades are touted or not, the reports of ORAL will be implemented.”
He stressed that the renewed admiration must not derail efforts to combat corruption, retrieve looted state funds, or hold past wrongdoers accountable.
“Even if you praise him or you don’t praise him, the right thing must be done... we will collect our money,” Gyampo emphasized.
This comes in the wake of Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko’s surprising praise for Mahama. In a June 16 interview on Asaase Radio, the prominent NPP figure described Mahama as “the most prepared president Ghana has ever had”—a view that has sparked both admiration and skepticism.
Gabby, however, tempered his remarks with a sobering reminder:
“The youth are unforgiving... They voted for you because they expect their aspirations to be met through your 24-hour economy policy and other promises.”
Gyampo’s warning serves as a stern reminder that no matter how favorable public opinion may become, accountability and justice must remain the government's priority.
“Attorney General, all of you, don’t be swayed… Let us get to the bottom of every matter, regardless of whoever is involved.”
