Energy Minister warns of nationwide power outage on July 13 due to scheduled ENI gas plant maintenance operations. |
Ghana is expected to experience a nationwide power interruption on Sunday, July 13, 2025, due to a planned shutdown by gas suppliers ENI, according to the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor.
The brief but significant disruption is part of ENI’s ongoing rehabilitation and maintenance works aimed at boosting gas production capacity from current levels to an estimated 270 million standard cubic feet per day (MM Scarf).
“This Sunday, ENI will turn off their valves temporarily to increase gas production… It means that we are stabilising the energy sector,” Minister Jinapor said during a groundbreaking ceremony for the 161kV Anwomaso-Kumasi transmission line.
Although the power cut will occur only within a short window, the Minister stressed that the inconvenience was necessary for long-term energy reliability.
“It is for a good purpose. The plant will be turned off for a short period during the day for maintenance works, and as a result, we are likely to experience some power interruption.”
