A tragic accident on the Accra-Kumasi highway on Sunday morning, October 12, 2025, has claimed the lives of three people and left three others in critical condition.
According to eyewitnesses, a private car carrying six passengers lost control and somersaulted several times before landing in a bush by the roadside. The car, with registration number GT 2361-20, was traveling toward Kumasi when the incident occurred.
Reports suggest that the vehicle veered off its lane after the driver appeared to lose control. The car crashed into the side of the road, leading to the instant death of three passengers. The remaining three sustained severe injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
Eyewitnesses at the scene described the crash as horrifying. One of them, who spoke on camera said, “It was a very sad scene. The car was badly damaged, and some of the passengers died instantly before help could arrive.”
Police officers from the nearest district quickly arrived at the scene to manage the situation. They assisted in transporting the injured to the hospital and helped clear the road to ensure the smooth flow of traffic. The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the hospital morgue for identification and further investigation.
Preliminary information suggests that the victims who died are believed to be members of the same family, though police have not yet confirmed their identities. Investigations are currently ongoing to determine the exact cause of the accident.
This unfortunate incident serves as a painful reminder of the need for drivers to exercise caution and avoid over-speeding, especially on major highways like the Accra-Kumasi road, which has witnessed several fatal crashes in recent months.
