Afenyo-Markin Apoints A Senior Political Advisor

The Minority Leader in Parliament, Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has appointed Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim as Senior Political Advisor for Constituency Affairs, effective immediately.

In a statement issued by the Office of the Minority Leader, the appointment was described as a “deliberate and calculated investment in leadership excellence,” highlighting Kassim’s wealth of experience, political acumen, and dedication to good governance.

Hon. Kassim’s appointment is expected to strengthen the Minority Leader’s strategic engagement with constituencies and enhance grassroots coordination within the caucus. The statement emphasized that Kassim’s blend of technical expertise and administrative leadership makes him well-suited to the advisory role.

Afenyo-Markin and Kassim share a long-standing professional relationship dating back to their collaboration in the Effutu Municipality, where Afenyo-Markin served as Member of Parliament and Kassim as Municipal Chief Executive (2021–2025). Their partnership was credited with spearheading several development projects that transformed Effutu’s local economy and infrastructure.

Beyond politics, Kassim boasts significant private sector experience, having served in senior management positions where he led operational efficiency and process improvement initiatives. His leadership was noted for driving innovation and enhancing institutional performance.

Academically, Kassim holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science from the University of Cape Coast and a Certificate in Logistics Management from the University of Ghana Business School. He is currently pursuing an MPhil in Procurement and Supply Chain Management at the University of Education, Winneba.

The Minority Leader’s office expressed confidence that Kassim’s inclusion would bolster efforts toward constituency-focused governance, improve coordination between the Minority caucus and local structures, and promote resource optimization across parliamentary operations.

The statement concluded by reaffirming the Minority Leader’s commitment to building a results-driven and inclusive leadership team capable of delivering meaningful outcomes for the Ghanaian people.
