The Presidency dismisses claims of an investigation into Akufo-Addo’s official trips. |
In a statement issued on Friday, March 28, 2025, Mr. Kwakye Ofosu described such claims as false and urged the public to disregard them.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the Presidency has not given any order to the NIB to look into President Akufo-Addo's travels,” he clarified.
His response comes after reports surfaced, alleging that President John Mahama had directed the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) to investigate Akufo-Addo’s official travels during his tenure.
Some media outlets, including Asaase Radio, had earlier reported that government officials defended the alleged move, claiming it was part of broader efforts to ensure accountability in the management of state resources.
However, Mr. Kwakye Ofosu has firmly denied these reports, maintaining that the Presidency has not initiated any such probe.

The rumours had sparked debate within political and public circles, with some viewing the alleged probe as an accountability measure, while others considered it a politically motivated action against the former administration.
With this latest clarification, it remains to be seen whether the matter will escalate further or fade away as a dismissed political controversy.
