In a major policy shift, the Government of Ghana has announced that visa applications will now be processed within five working days, a significant reduction from the previous 4 to 6-week waiting period.

Speaking at a press briefing, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, confirmed that the new policy takes immediate effect and forms part of government efforts to reposition Ghana as Africa’s gateway for tourism, investment, and global partnerships.

“We have put in place adequate measures at our diplomatic missions to drastically cut down visa processing time,” Ablakwa said, emphasizing the administration’s push to make Ghana a premier global destination.

The government believes this reform will attract more tourists, business travellers, and diaspora investors, aligning with Ghana’s Beyond the Return initiative and long-term development agenda.
